Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Lulu has great buns! Not those kinds of buns, the buns that require a labor of love and some great baking skills! This place is off the beaten path, but if you search for it, you will find it. They are located right off Alvarado Canyon Road and Basilica Place Drive. It's behind Grove Church and Connect English San Diego. I had an almond croissant and a house drip coffee. The almond croissant not only looked amazing but tasted very good as well. The croissant was soft, buttery, and crispy in all the right places; furthermore, the almond cream and paste inside the croissant was delicious. Lulu's Buns offer wholesale and retail baked goods and pastries. They also offer small breakfast items, such as breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Lulu, the owner is super nice.

to be honest and fair, I actually enjoyed the pastries from here before the changes. it's obvious that they are now selling stuff that comes out of the freezer. When i want a fresh baked pastry, I don't want something that has been baked, frozen, then thawed for sale. in my opinion, they should be baked daily and sold, now THAT is fresh. since I have seen the guy with the beard working, the quality has definitely dropped. doesn't seem like he cares, nor does it seem like he knows what he's doing. the last time I came in, I was waiting at the counter, and I could see through the door that he was standing on his phone, and he literally went right back to touching the pastries. I ended up leaving and that was the last time I will ever come back. You had a loyal customer Lulu but as long as that guy is on your team, I will buy elsewhere. PS: I don't know how long those burritos sit in your window but the one I had tasted old and stale. If you aren't going to do those to order, I would definitely take it off the menu. Are you a bakery or a restaurant?

This little gem that’s tucked behind the building has some delicious freshly made pastries, bread, and sandwiches! We have been twice before today and they did not disappoint. We ordered a panini sandwich, which you can customize. We had ours with a croissant, Turkey, pesto, Monterey Jack cheese and tomato. The sandwich itself was a bit small BUT it was really good! Left with a few pastries: Nutella braid, chocolate croissant, and a sourdough chocolate chip cookie. You can have them add powdered sugar at the end too. We’ve also used their braided bread for French toast and it was amazing. Definitely stopping by again 😊
